Can I find Fontina cheese at most grocery stores?

Question by Vivita: Can I find Fontina cheese at most grocery stores?
I have a recipe that calls for Fontina cheese, I’ve never heard of it and was wondering if I’d have to go to a more “upscale” supermarket to find that type of cheese -such as Fresh Market or Whole Foods, or could I find that in Publix?

Fontina is a classic Italian Cheese made from cow’s whole milk. It is semi-hard in texture and it has a buttery and nutty flavor. Yum!

Most local grocery stores carry it in the international cheese section of the produce department. It is definitely at Whole Foods.

I found it at my local Fry’s (Kroger, Jewel, Smith’s). It’s in the ‘imported’ or high end cheese case, not in the case with string cheese and cream cheese.

At Publix, it is in the Deli.
